22–23.5.2024 – Be-Longing: Crafting with Finnish Wool and Foraged Mushrooms
We welcome you to our Event on Wednesday the 22nd of May from 3pm to 8pm at Maa-Tila!
Jahnavee and Lau will be presenting their Masters Collaborative Research and Exhibition.
Join the spinning of our continuous threads and spend the evening thinking about more-than-humans with us. There will be snacks, coffee and tea, and hands on experiences with wool!
During this research and time working together, we were deeply interested in wool and our relationship to sheep, fungi and to the forests. We have been researching ways in which sourcing materials influences the making processes and strengthens our interspecies relationships. In this research we met various communities of makers, spinnings, farmers and artists in Finland and discussed ways of sourcing materials differently, questioning our means of production. Aulikki gave us wool from her sheep that we could process ourselves: from washing, to carding, to spinning by hand, to plying, to weaving. Our research came from a need, looking at the absence and missing links, hoping to, through our practice, connect again and find ways to belong.

Duo for empty and silent environment
Performances for Duo for empty and silent environment in Maa Tila gallery on 28.2 at 17.30 & 19.30, 29.2 at 16.00! Tickets 5e, mobile pay or cash.
Duo tyhjälle ja hiljaiselle ympäristölle inspiroituu latinankielen sanasta emovere, joka juontuu englanninkielen sanaan emotion, mutta emovere tarkoittaa suomeksi 'jonkin asian liikkeelle laittamista'. Teos tarkastelee havaintoa ja huomiota liikkeen ja äänen yhteen kietoutumisessa.
Duo for empty and silent environment is inspired by latin word emovere, which originates into english word emotion, but in finnish emovere means 'setting something into motion'. The performance researches perception and attention into entanglement of movement and sound.
