Another Snake

From a distance, I play—stretching, shrinking, fattening, thinning, rearranging.
The shape that emerges feels like a product of chance, yet perhaps I am merely shaping it to follow an answer I have already, unknowingly, decided.
As I wondered, it twisted its body and slipped through my fingers, only to escape once again.

Risako Yamanoi is a visual artist based in Helsinki. Her practice stems from a deep interest in storytelling as a fundamental human act, exploring both the intimacy of personal narratives and the unconscious omissions or hidden fragments they leave behind. In Another Snake, works created with found objects and toy-like motifs come together to form an associative language that echoes the speculative and open-ended nature of children's play. The exhibition attempts to seek a liminal space between story and conspiracy, creation and manipulation, a place where meaning flickers, forms, and unravels.
